NHS Direct - Shirley Large
Dr Shirley Large is the Head of Research for Research and Clinical Audit for NHS Direct and she leads the national research programme for NHS Direct. NHS Direct provides health advice and information via telephone, website, e-mail, digital TV and SMS text. Shirley is a Chartered Scientist; she has a PhD in Psychology an MSc in Social Statistics and BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies. Shirley’s background in research includes developing and leading health services research programmes. Shirley’s previous experience in academic and applied research, psychology, nursing and public health are formative to her mixed-methods approach to her research for NHS Direct.
