HPA Centre for Infections - Jim McLauchlin

Jim McLauchlin graduated in microbiology in the University College of Wales (Aberystwyth) in 1978 and has worked as a public health microbiologist in the Health Protection Agency (previously the PHLS) since then. He gained his PhD in 1988 and now heads the Food Safety Microbiology Laboratory. This Laboratory provides support for the detection, diagnosis, surveillance and control of infection transmitted through food and water and also hosts the Food and Environmental Proficiency Testing Unit. He is the author of over 200 scientific publication including more than 100 in peer reviewed publications.
